Battlefield V Reveal

Hey folks,

Just got around to watching the Battlefield V reveal from the EA livestream. Now admittedly I haven't gotten around to reading too much about the game modes and such, but from what I saw, the game looks very flashy and, as usual, action packed for a Battlefield game.

Here, I'll let you watch the trailer yourselves.

Yeah, it's pretty darn impressive. I haven't played Battlefield since...BF4, and a brief stint into BF1 on a free weekend or such, but for World War 2, I think I might make an exception.

Battlefield V is returning to World War 2, and I think it's something the fans have been after for quite a while, and I'm a fan of Battlefield 2 myself, so to see this setting on modern day hardware is quite exciting. I'm sure there are a whole host of balance, quality of life and gameplay improvements that will significantly improve the franchise as a whole, as well as new game modes, but that is for another day.

Other major things that may have been missed on the reveal more concern the financial model for Battlefield V. Gone is the Premium Pass which grants users maps, weapons and lootboxes, gone are lootboxes all together from what I've been reading. They seem to have replaced them with simpler microtransactions which harken back to the days of old where people could choose to buy the content they wanted (usually cosmetic) with their hard-earned cash. A lesson EA learned from the amazing work on Battlefront 2 I presume.

The upside of this is that all Battlefield V maps will be completely free. No problem if you can't afford the shiny expansion passes, you can still play with your mates. There's a lot to make up for EA, but you're making the right steps, and you have to give credit where credit is due.

All in all, I'll wait for some more info at E3 before I commit to this, but it's looking like a bloody nice game. A tentative good job from me.

Until next time,
Groovy.
