Back to writing - The Banner Saga
Hey folks,
If you've come back after all this time, good on you, it's nearly been a year now. My last post was September 2017 where I promised I'd have some content up about Resident Evil 7. Yeah. Sorry about that. That's been and gone now, and I've played my fair share of a few games between now and then.
Resi 7, The Evil Within, Monster Hunter World, Yakuza Kiwami, Child of Light...more games than I thought.
Recently I've been playing The Banner Sage. It's a beautiful game, not without its faults, but it is absolutely worth a play if you can find it at the right price. The artwork is pretty enticing, and the story is quite compelling. I just love the Norse themes throughout, and this oppressive feeling of a doomsday-like scenario. It's a really good blend, and I think it works for the game.
Now I mentioned that the game is not without faults, and that's true. For those unfamiliar with The Banner Saga, its a story of survival, where you take control of a band of soldiers and civilians and drag them across a frozen wasteland in a grand quest for survival. There's a lot of mechanics to keep track of, but it basically boils down to some decision making in the over-world, (with some consequences) and a turn based tactical RPG (think Final Fantasy Tactics). I'm going to write a more detailed bit about both of these games in the coming days I reckon, as I like the game enough to keep playing it, but I'm a little at odds with it right now, which is a bit frustrating. I'm going to finish it as I've already poured 7 hours into it, but I just wish some elements were a bit more satisfying.
If you can't wait for my opinion on it, then you can head over to buy the game from Steam here
As of writing it's priced at £15, however, I'd recommend waiting for it to be around £10 before picking it up.
Anyway, that's all for now. Check back tomorrow, and I'll have some words to say about the over-world of The Banner Saga, it's pros and cons, and how I feel this affects the overall feel of the game.
Catch you later,
Groovy.
