More Indie Surprises - Dead Effect

Hey folks, Groovy here!

I'm back again, and you're all probably eager to hear my views about Resident Evil 7, well, that's probably going to be a bit of a longer article than what i intend to do, so I'm going to leave that for a little bit, but instead, I'll give you a quick overview, and then a few words on the stuff I'm playing at the minute.

So one of the best things I've had a go at recently is from the recent Humble Spooky Bundle, and it's a game called Dead Age. I know I spoke about this last time, but it really is worth highlighting how much of a gem this game is. I believe it's in the $1 tier, so there really is no excuse for not picking this game up. It is a really good take on the zombie survivor genre, with in my opinion, the aspect that doesn't really get covered, the camp management side. Mix that in with a pretty satisfying combat system and you really are in for a good ride.
I recommend this game for anyone looking to burn some time when they're not sure. From what I've read, there is an end to the game, but it's a matter of getting to it that's difficult!

I've been having a bit of difficulty recently picking a game that I want to play and sit down with, and unfortunately the rogue-lite nature of Dead Age kind of puts me off using that game as my sit down game. I tried playing another game called Dead Effect. I'm not sure what the overall story of the game is, but it seems to be a sci-fi zombie shooter. It's an FPS game, where you play as a crew member that has been awakened to a ship full of flesh-eating nasties. The game seems to run some sort of upgrade system where you buy the upgrades to your weapons at the end of each level using money that you pick up from the spaceship.

The story progresses via prompts from other NPC's that guide you through the spaceship to fulfill objectives and missions. From what I have played, it seems as though Dead Effect has a particular focus on decimating hordes of zombies, however, this isn't done quickly, and you will quickly find yourself overwhelmed by hordes of zombies if you aren't careful. There's a bit of enemy variety in there too. So far I've seen crawlers and zombies that seems to spit globs of blood at you. It's not too bad, it's quite fun, although the game does seem a little bit slow to me in parts, but hopefully that would change up the further into the game it goes.

Alright folks, that's all for now. I'm planning to write about Resi 7 soon, so watch this space.

Happy gaming!

Groovy.
